At Accountnet, we highly recommended the use of checklists for your users to test all necessary Dynamics modules.  We walk you through testing in both test upgrade and live upgrade environments, and once users feel comfortable with the tests we have them sign off for each module.  User acceptance is very important to ensure all your business processes work correctly in the new Microsoft Dynamics.  This includes testing all transaction entry tasks, reports, daily, monthly and yearly routines and processes.

While every implementation of MS Dynamics is different, there are some general recommendations and tips for upgrading you can follow to make things go more smoothly.

  1. Back Up! This should always be your first step before any upgrade. Once the databases are upgraded, make a SQL backup before moving forward.
  2. Manage Database Size. During an upgrade, the database grows to a fairly large size.  Make sure you check the size of each of the company databases to ensure you are comfortable with it based on the space requirements for your environment.
